This year I want to buck that trend at least where my passions are concerned. So here is a short list of things I'd like to do in this, the two-thousand and fourteenth year of our lord:
1) Be a more consistent and faithful sharer of information for you, my people.
I admit, the last six months of 2013 were kind of sketchy for me writing on here. One moment, I'll post up a storm; the next, you don't hear from me for a month or more. I apologize and I will engrave time to blog into my schedule to keep you up to date on what's going on around us.
2) Get to one or more Cons. (See the cap "C" there? That's how much I mean it)
There are a lot of great events going on throughout the year and very few of them actually happen in San Diego. For us Mid-Westerners, one might feel we couldn't be farther from the action but here are a few Conventions to keep in mind in the coming year. Be kind; it took me awhile to find all these so if I missed some, let me know.

A lot of my entertainment these days comes from the web series, podcasts and original media created by people like Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, Chris Hardwick and others. It's intelligent, humorous, entertaining and FREE! They do it for the sheer joy of the subject matter and are happy to have loyal followers. Take time out and listen to an episode the The Nerdist Podcast with Chris Hardwick or watch an original video by the ladies of Team Unicorn. You will be glad you did. Links to their content can be found on the LINKS page.
4) Find new and interesting games of various media (tabletop, video, etc) and play more of them.
One of the adventures of my youth was to go over to a friends house every couple of weeks and play RIFT. Before that, I occupied A LOT of my time behind my NES systems and developing a love/hate relationship with Zelda. I missed the days of sitting around with friends and layin' the smack down on a fool. Thanks to the aforementioned Wil Wheaton (see Resolution #3), I was introduced to a whole new slew of games that I could enjoy, either with hardcore gamers or my wife and our collective of friends. If you want a casual game, play one of the many versions of Fluxx. It's a simple card game with easy-to-understand rules, yet at the drop of a hat the game can change. If your looking for something a little more challenging (and I mean, 'a little'), try Munchin. It's a fun game on its own and it can be made more interesting by a selection of expansion packs available for purchase. Go to your local gaming store and ask for recommendations based on your interest, skill and free time availability.
I am not a narcissist so if there is anything anyone would like to contribute, please feel free. As always, I appreciate the support of everyone who follows along. Have a happy 2014 and I look forward to seeing what it has to offer for everyone in the Nerdiverse! Don't forget to follow on Facebook.
Prost!
